The Campaign

Every Thanksgiving, the President of the United States ceremonially pardons a turkey. Meanwhile, over 40,000 Americans remain incarcerated for low-level marijuana offenses, despite shifting public opinion and evolving legalization efforts. Recognizing this stark juxtaposition, in collaboration with the Last Prisoner Project, the campaign Pardon People. Not Poultry was launched. campaign to advocate for real justice reform.

The Goal

This grassroots movement sought to pressure the White House to prioritize pardoning individuals unjustly imprisoned over symbolic gestures like pardoning a turkey. By encouraging Americans to take action through letters to the Department of Justice, it sought to amplify civic participation, raise awareness about the Last Prisoner Project’s mission to free cannabis prisoners, and push for meaningful justice reform.
